Keppel Capital establishes entity in Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City

Keppel Capital China Pte Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Capital Holdings Pte. Ltd. (Keppel Capital), has today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Administrative Committee (ECAC) and Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Investment and Development Co., Ltd. (SSTEC) to establish a fund management entity in the Eco-Business Park (EBP) in the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City (Eco-City), a landmark bilateral project between the governments of Singapore and China.

The MOU was inked at the 8th Singapore-Tianjin Economic and Trade Council (STETC) meeting in Tianjin, China, which was co-chaired by Singapore's Minister for National Development and Second Minister for Finance, Mr Lawrence Wong, and Tianjin Mayor, Mr Zhang Guoqing.

Mr Eric Goh, CEO (China), Keppel Capital, said, "It is opportune and strategic for Keppel Capital to establish an entity in the Eco-City, where several other Keppel businesses are already contributing with solutions for sustainable urbanisation. Focused on RMB fund management business, the entity will serve as a platform for us to work with Chinese investors and capture opportunities in the market, including those brought by the Belt and Road Initiative."

Mr Tay Lim Heng, CEO of SSTEC, said, "SSTEC is delighted to welcome Keppel Capital to the Eco-City. The finance industry is becoming an engine of economic growth in the Eco-City. We believe that Keppel Capital's strong track record in fund management coupled with EBP's conducive environment for businesses would synergise and strengthen the Eco-City's economic development."

Keppel leads the Singapore consortium in the joint venture to develop the 30-square kilometer Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. With the city's growing maturity, there are now more than 7,000 registered companies as well as 100,000 people living and working in the Eco-City.
